'SIDO" is 105

sido 105.jpgSunday, July 29th, 2012, was a very special day for the NCCU and the people of Dubique. On that day centenarian, Sidora “Sido” Marie Alexander celebrated her 105th birthday.  NCCU officers, management and staff journeyed  south to Dubique to celebrate with Sido and her family, friends and neighbours.

A service of  thanksgiving for Sido’s longevity was celebrated by Monsignor Reginald La Fleur and was a highlight of this very grand event.  Monsignor  LaFleur described Sido as a "living icon".

Sido was  alert throughout the proceedings which included remarks by the Parliamentary Representative, Kenneth Darrroux; Minister of Community Development, Gloria Shillingford; President of NCCU FunCare, Mavis Williams; NCCU President, Dexter Ducreay, and NCCU CEO, Aylmer Irish. Sido's granddaughter, Antonia Alexander, offered thanks on behalf of Sido and her family.

Sido was adopted by the RCCU in January 2008 when she was 100 years and six months. The NCCU continues to assist her family in caring for her by providing support monthly.

Below is a glimpse of Sido's 105th birthday celebration.
