PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Members,
On the 1st of November 2011, we will be celebrating our first anniversary as National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU). This, in no uncertain terms is a major mile stone. Tremendous effort has been invested in the coming together of our five credit unions-Vieille Case, Roseau, St. David’s, St. Paul and La Salette.
The amalgamation process started over twenty (20) years ago when at a Roseau Co-operative Credit Union Annual General Meeting, a resolution was passed to form one credit union. It took the perseverance of men like deceased Hudson Savarin and Mr. Kenneth Richard to ensure that the initiative was kept in the public domain. In more recent times, the baton was passed on to the Amalgamation committee consisting of volunteers from all five (5) credit unions. The committee worked tirelessly over a period of a year and a half which resulted in the creation of NCCU.
Our institution is very robust and is being managed by dedicated volunteers.- (Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, Credit Committee and staff). NCCU is proud of its’ five (5) branches which is located across Dominica, providing services that competes with any other financial institution on the island. We are recognized as the second largest financial institution on island and the largest credit union in the O.E.C.S. Our financial holdings are just as impressive, with Assets at $351,390,956, Membership 34,833 and Loan portfolio of $253,033,815 as of August 31st, 2011.
Our future goals in improving and enhancing the membership experience at our branches are in its advance stage. That is the lunching of our VISA debit card and later, VISA credit card.
As we celebrate our 1st anniversary, I join all other volunteers in expressing gratitude and thanks to the entire membership for demonstrating confidence in the decision to amalgamate. As our institution grow in size and age, we give you the assurance that we will maintain our contract with you, by ensuring that our decisions in the development of the institution are grounded in the Cooperative principles. On behalf of all volunteers, I do wish everyone a happy anniversary and may God bless us all.
