10 Members Win Prizes In BACK2SCHOOL Loan PROMOTION

Ten members of the National Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (NCCU), who participated in the Society's 2017 Back2School Loan promotion, have been rewarded

The promotion, which  ran at all seven NCCU branches between July and August 2017, gave members who applied for Back2School, Learn While You Earn and Education loans the opportunity to be entered in  a draw.

The ten winners were drawn from borrowers who took loans at the NCCU Roseau Branch. They were presented with their prizes at the Branch's Loans Department.

Esaie Innocent, Dellia Esprit, Wellsworth Etienne and Rhona Mathew walked away with gift baskets loaded with stationery and school supplies. Gift vouchers redeemable for school supplies at four participating merchants were won by Hannah Lawrence, Lucia McDowell, Marsha Remie, Imee St. Aimee, Valda Simon and Soriah Darroux.

Speaking at the presentation, Loans Manager, Annette Prevost-Dupuis  reminded the winners and members present that, "At NCCU we do care for our members and this is one of the ways we show our concern by giving back to you".  She went on to say, "We realise that it could be strenuous as it relates to the purchasing of school supplies and we want to help relieve some of your financial burden by offering gift vouchers and baskets". 

NCCU thanks its members for supporting the promotion and for their loyalty to NCCU, their financial institution of choice

15 Students Receive Secondary School Scholarships

 The tradition of awarding  scholarships in keeping with the international cooperative principle of "Education, Training and Information " continued in 2017. On August 2, 2017 15 students, who will attend secondary school in the new academic year, were awarded scholarships by the NCCU. 

One merit scholarship and 14  scholarships, in the names of persons who have made notable contributions to the development of the credit union movement in Dominica, were awarded for a period of five years. The recipients were

 NCCU President Josephine Dublin revealed that for the  2016/2017 academic year the NCCU spent more than $75,000 on its scholarship program and over $400,000 has been spent over the six years of NCCU's existence.   

The scholarships cover the provision of text books and other school supplies to a maximum of $700, an annual uniform allowance of $300, the payment of school fees ranging from $50 to $525, and the provision of a monthly transport allowance ranging from $50 to $80 where applicable, among other expenses.

The NCCU has maintained investment in youth through the scholarship program spanning over 50 years. Since the establishment of the NCCU on November 1st, 2010, the total number of scholarships available per annum has doubled from 7 to 15 Mrs Dublin pointed out.

12 Selected for Cadence Show

After a heavily contested audition lasting some 6 hours, the five Judges found it difficult to select only 10 finalists. As a result,12 artistes were selected to showcase their songs at the 2017 Cadence Lypso Show carded for the Pottersville Savannah on November 2nd, 2017.

The following are the artistes who got the nod from the judges at the in-house audition held at the NCCU LTD on July 15, 2017.
